Antique Powder Horn Flask – 18th–Early 19th C. Natural Horn, Original Plug, As Found

Antique Powder Horn Flask – 18th–Early 19th C. Natural Horn, Original Plug, As Found

Offered here is an authentic antique powder horn, dating to the late 18th to early 19th century, constructed from a naturally curved animal horn with a fitted wooden end plug.
This piece is an original historical artifact, not a reproduction. The horn shows correct form, material, and age-consistent wear associated with early frontier and muzzle-loading era accessories. The natural curvature, thickness, and patina are consistent with period examples.
### Details:
- Natural horn body with deep, even patina
- Wooden end plug intact and secure
- Original stopper included (broken, as shown)
- No modern repairs or restoration
- Untouched, as-found condition

### Measurements:
- Approximate length: just under 10 inches (see photos with tape measure for reference)

### Condition Notes (Important):
- The stopper is broken and no longer seats properly
- One end opening shows age-related wear
- Surface wear, darkening, and minor marks consistent with age
- No cracks through the horn body observed

Despite the stopper damage, the horn remains a strong display and collector piece, with excellent visual presence and honest originality.
### Historical Context:
Powder horns such as this were widely used during the colonial and early post-colonial period for storing dry powder and other materials. Each horn was individually shaped, making no two examples exactly alike. Pieces in original, unrestored condition are increasingly difficult to find.
This example is offered strictly as a historical collectible. It is not represented as functional equipment.
Please review all photographs carefully, as they form part of the description.
